Wolcott family papers, 1793-1953.

Correspondence, primarily of Mary Ann Wolcott and Mary Almyra Starr Wolcott of Middletown, Connecticut. Mary Ann Wolcott's correspondence concerns an ongoing dispute over monetary support promised by her brother Alexander but not forthcoming from his wife after Alexander's death. Letters to Mary Almyra Starr Wolcott are from her husband Henry while he was away on business and from her brother Robert Starr and her son-in-law Joseph Balestier. Also includes documents relating to Alexander Wolcott, Sr., Cora Codman Ely Wolcott, the commission of Henry Wolcott, deeds relating to the Starr family, and genealogical notes on the Wolcott family. Of note in the assorted papers is a description of the chain over the Hudson River at West Point during the Revolution, written by Elizabeth Franklin Townsend Wolcott.
